The Huncote Vipers Model Car Club was formed by David Quemby along with Charles, Paul Dunkley, Rob Norwell and Colin Watts. The first meeting was held in the Huncote Community Primary School on Tuesday 27th March 1990. Since then, the club has gone from strength to strength and has members of various ages. The main aims of the club are to promote the sport of Radio Control Model Car Racing, provide a safe environment for youngsters to use their cars and a place for then to learn how to tune and maintain them. The club is affiliated to the British Radio Car Association which is the governing body of the sport in this country. With the aid of shares from a Building Society the club has managed to purchase a Laptop PC, race timing software and AMB transponders to enable automatic and accurate lap timing. The club still meets on a Tuesday night (7.00pm to 10.00pm) and always welcomes new members. Racing is done using 1/10th or 1/12th scale electric cars (buggies or saloons) on a carpet based track. The circuit is changed once a month to allow drivers time to test different car set-ups.
