Grants E-mail
General News

Once again the club has been awarded a Shires Community Grant for 2009/2010.

The grant subsidises our hire of the hall by 50% until end of March 2010.

Without this generous offer the club would have to either find an alternative venue or disband.

All this come about because of the loss of the Leicestershire's Education Departments Delegated Community Budget in 2006; which funded groups using local Community Centres.

Without this budget we would have to pay £30 per night for hire of both halls (£40 from April 2010).

Now with the Shires Community Grant we only have to pay £15 per night until end of March 2010.

Unfortunately we were turned down again for a Grassroots Grant even after putting forward a stronger case.

The grant was for updating our AMB20 transponders to the new AMBrc ones.

Due to the loss of the grant we will have to retain the AMB20 ones & replace the batteries in them.

We will also look at updating the laptop & printer.

We were successful in applying for a Community Grant to help with replacing the existing track marking system.  We were rewarded £200 which has been put towards the new improved track marker system which reduces the time setting up & packing away the track each week.

Check out the following video of the new track system in use.

We have also been successful in applying for a Blaby District Council Community Revenue Grant for four cars to be used by people wanting to try their hand at the sport before committing themselves to spend money.

We have been awarded the sum of £430 towards the purchase of the four cars to be used by people wanting to come & try the sport.  We have now got a total of 8 cars that can be used by anyone wanting to come & try the sport.

We have contacted the local Youth Workers plus some organisers of local youth groups to see if they have anyone wanting to come along to the club to have a go.

To check on the availability of the cars check out the 'Loaned Cars Diary' page.
